I have such a love for music in all forms, writing, performing, creating, listening… But song-writing would probably be the most important to me. There’s nothing more fulfilling than creating something from a feeling or a situation and turning it into a song; it’s definitely therapy for me. I absolutely love love love it!!

I started out by taking piano lessons when I was five for only a year, and taught myself after that. I was actually so shy that I got “kicked out” of my lessons because I wasn’t ready. That might have had something to do with peeing my pants because I was too afraid to ask to go to the bathroom… but it worked out for me in the end because I taught myself how to play music by ear! I also took guitar lessons when I was 12, and had a huge crush on my guitar teacher so I obviously practiced hardcore. And at this point I started writing lyrics, y’know junior high boy problems. Then at 15, I started writing full-length songs. My best friend, Haley had the same passion as me in the arts, and so we inspired each other everyday to keeping working hard. We would spend every night singing and showing each other our songs. She’s honestly the reason why I do this, I would have never believed in myself if it wasn’t for her. From there, I haven’t stopped writing or singing.

What inspires you?

Oh man, a lot of things inspire me. The people I surround myself with definitely inspire me. I try to keep myself around passionate, hardworking people because it motivates me and I love being around likeminded people. JAMES BAY. Holy cow, he is the most inspiring musician I’ve ever come across – if you haven’t listened to his music yet… you’re welcome. A lot of writers in the music industry inspire me, especially the ones that are singer-songwriters. There’s just something so special about writing music, and I relate and feel so inspired when I hear other people’s stories through their songs.

What advice would you tell someone who was trying to pursue this lifestyle?

WORK HARD & DON’T GIVE UP!! Talent will do nothing for you if you don’t work hard. I was never born with this; I honestly could never even sing before. I just worked my ass off every single day, writing and singing 24/7.

If you could go to any concert and have an exclusive VIP experience, which one would you go to & why?

JAMES BAY!!! But I would want it to be a stripped down acoustic show, just him and his guitar. I just have so much respect for him as an artist. He is an INCREDIBLE songwriter, his voice is goals af, and he is just so majestic.

If you could blink your eyes and be in a favorite place right now, where would that place be?

VEGAAAS, haha and it’s not why you think. Basically, that’s where I built this life and dream. I love the city, and the energy. It’s always alive – and I can’t get enough of it. My parents had a place down there, so I would go there all the time with my best friend, and we would seriously have the greatest time you could possibly have. We always wrote the best songs there and would get so inspired and motivated every time. We also get very tanned, and eat good food. If anyone can marry me so I can get my green card and live in the U.S… I’m down. I still love Canada though.

What has been the most rewarding moment so far?

Honestly, being able to put up videos on my Instagram/YouTube and seeing people actually react to it is so rewarding. MAN, I would spend hours watching YouTube videos of other singers and just dream about being able to do that. I was always so petrified of putting my stuff up, and it took me a looonng time to finally have the balls to do it. And now every time I read people’s comments/messages saying how I inspire them, or how they’re fans of my work, I get all jittery and dream like because I honestly used to wish for that. I TRULY appreciate every single person that takes time out of their day to listen to my stuff. I’ve always just wanted to make people feel something through my music, or my covers. AND IT’S REAL NOW.

What project are you working on now?

I definitely want to record an EP this year, and do more shows around town. I’m also working and writing with producers that I’ve met through social media, so hopefully some of these songs will be released this year. And I’m still working on building a following through social media so I can essentially spread my music anywhere in the world.

What makes you ALL IN ALL THE TIME?

It’s just the love I have for music. The feeling of singing my song, my story, to a crowd of people no matter how big, there’s just nothing like it. However far my music takes me, I’ll always love it and it will always be who I am – so why not go all in all the time ;) I’ll give everything I have to do something I love. It takes sacrifice and hard work, but it’s already been worth it.
